This may help to answer the question, does prayer work?

Yearly Hajj Diasters

People killed while showing devotion to GOD

2006: 345 die in a crush during a stone-throwing ritual
2004: 251 trampled to death in stampede
2003: 14 are crushed to death
2001: 35 die in stampede
1998: At least 118 trampled to death
1997: 343 pilgrims die and 1,500 injured in fire
1994: 270 killed in stampede
1990: 1,426 pilgrims killed in tunnel leading to holy sites
1987: 400 die as Saudi authorities confront pro-Iranian demonstration

Let's tame all humans on earth so they may respect each other

This came to me after listening to the speech given by Robert Kenendy the day the Martin Luther King died

Kevin has arrived in the village

I did not even know that Matt Lucas was gay., I though this was only for the Welsh village. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/6188161.stm

This got me wondering, he is a well known TV star. He might be a bit overweight but I am sure his stardom will allow him to have lots of girls. So does he still have to pretend his is gay just to get a partner? I don't think so.

The mecca of a suggestion for the FBI

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/6182835.stm

The blind radical Muslim cleric (whose first prayer to God is so far unanswered?) Omar Abdel Rahman is very ill and in a US Jail. He was convicted of plotting attacks against New York in 1996. He has asked his supporters to commit violence against the US if he dies in a US jail.

Solution
I think we can put the guy on a life support machine for a few years/decades to keep him alive. Actually how many years could you do this for?. A financial person might argue that its cheaper to do this and pay for a normal prisoner.

Could a person be considered dead if he was frozen while on a life support machine (perhaps there will be a cure for terrorism in the future).

When was the saying "re-inventing the wheel" first used?

And a few more questions:
  • How was the first wheel used?: (eg: Horse Car, so how did it take to make the 2nd wheel)
  • Who invented the 2nd wheel? (was it another person?)
  • Now we can ask when was the saying "Re-inventing the wheel" first used and who said it?
  • What were the comments from the local people?
  • & what were the comments from the local spiritual Leaders, was this seen as unholy?

Comment from Laurns: The wheel was most likely invented in a number of places in the world, rather than one place and then it spread out.

What a good idea - Track not so good Internet countries

Enemies of the internet sound a bit stong (a bit Republican) but its seems a good thing to do and publish this list each year.

Belarus, Burma, China, Cuba, Egypt, Iran, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tunisia
Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Vietnam are all countried that restrict internet use?

Helpful people living in Brussels?

Last evening I left wok a little late, went to the car and found I was going nowhere quick. I had left lights on and the battery was dead. I am not a member (yet) of Touring (AA)), it was already dark and drizzling. I tried the following. Lifted the bonnet of the car, put up the triangle 60 meters behind the car and stood behind the car with the jump leads in my hands and tried to catch the attention of the cars going by. I expected to wait for sometime.
By the eight car, I had a helper in an old Mazda who pulled over and we connected. In two minutes I was on the way home.

Tradition begins with change, You can create new traditions

Tradition is many cases is nice especially when the tradition adds positive values to ones life. Tradition can be also be not so positive and still difficult to change. It might be useful to remember that "tradition begins with change" otherwise we would still be living in the trees.

What would you do if caught by a speed camera?

Think about this for a minute or two
  • Change your name (perhaps too much trouble)
  • Go home and get dressed up and come back for another foto session
  • Change the date on your PC and sell your car yesterday on eBay.
  • Open the camera and remove the hard disk
  • Tell the Americans that the camera is operated by Al Qaeda

Stingray that killed Steve Irwin

Australian environmentalist and television personality Steve Irwin has been killed by a stingray while diving.
It's now believe that the Stingray was on a suicide mission and the bomb equipment failed to explode due to the damp conditions. The Stingray sea foundation who live under the sea, said they were very surprised by this attack as the word Stingray in "stingish" (local sea language) actually means "peace"

The power of prayer

A female CNN journalist heard about a very old Jewish man who had been going to the Western Wall to pray, twice a day, everyday, for a long, long time. So she went to check it out. She went to the Western Wall and there he was walking slowly up to the holy site. She watched him pray and after about 45 minutes, when he turned to leave, using a cane in a very slow fashion, she approached him for an interview.

CNN: "I'm Rebecca Smith from CNN. Sir, how long have you been coming to Western Wall and praying?"
Man: "For about 60 years.
CNN: "60 years! That's amazing! What do you pray for?"
Man: "I pray for peace between the Christians, Jews and the Muslims. I pray for all the hatred to stop and I pray for all our children to grow up in safety and friendship."
CNN: "How do you feel after doing this for 60 years?"

Man: "Like I'm talking to a fuckin' wall."

One of my favourite inventions: The Roudabout

Great inventions can be simple:
The first modern roundabouts were used in the UK in the mid 1960s. These were based on the original design from the US (1904) and updated: (safety, rules to enter and leave, etc..)

Windows XP is fine for me, I can't think of another feature I need in an OS. However I would like the following,
  • MediaPlayer GSM (eg an iPod with a telephone)
  • Simple Wi-Fi connector for my Hi-Fi (to allow it to play mp3 file from the network)
  • TV DVD Recorder with Wi-Fi (similar to above)
  • Improved battery life on my laptop
  • Cooler CPU

So Bill, not problem about the delay with Vista.

Man can not live on .. & Holidays

Thought for Today
* "Man can not live on prayer alone"
* Based on the saying I heard many times when I was young in Ireland "Man cannot live on bread alone"

Lets do an experiment. I need one just one person who will try to live on prayer + water and I will live on bread + water. We can do the test over 30 days. So if you know anybody let me know.

Note: I am on vacation for 10 days so instead of enjoying live to the full in Belgium, I can now do the same in Turkey for 10 days. This is 10 day all-inclusive (including drinks), my goal is be in profit by the 3rd day.

Frank

We have to get more information to decide on this: This depends on some of the following
* Is it really difficult to find parking in the area? (how valuable is it?)
* What kind of handicap will it be?
* Do I get grant from the government or pay less tax?
* etc...

So please provide a bit more information and we can decide.

Talking loud in the office - linked to mating call?

This was my theory that some men talk loud as a sort of mating call. So when a person who has a habit of talking a small octave too loud in the office (while on the phone) recently got married, I had a chance to prove my brilliant theory that he would be loud no more as he now has a mate. I could already see the Nobel prize

Let's call this person Jamie Summer (not his real name, his name is cooler) and he is now happily married for already 2 weeks and feeling very good about himself.

Today I heard him on the phone from the other side of the building so there goes my theory :-(

I keep thinking, if the stroke caused brain demage (e.g. 95%), what part of the world would her accent be from or what job she could do?. I am sure there will be many answers to this :-)

Rock Werchter - Deus, Placebo etc..

Went to Rock Werchter yesterday, it was a good day except for the heat during until 18:00 hrs

We had great performances from Deus, Placebo and the Artic Monkeys (www.rockwerchter.be). As for Franz Ferdinand, I only dislike them when they play their own stuff music.

Some tips for the future when going to a Rock Concert when the weather is hot.

  • Bring water in an iv drip (it will also look cool which is very important)
  • Bring plastic blow up furniture (some people did this, very good idea)
  • Bring small bottles of water (frozen)

There were many good T-Shirts, my favourite was "I am surrounded by idiots". Finally, hi to the IKEA person we meet (Myka), it was a pleasure to meet you.

Motercycyclist dropping his right foot

I was driving home from work this evening and noticed a motorbike behind so I moved to the right and allowed the moterbike to pass by. He appeared to acknowledge my good nature by dropping his right leg to the ground. He did the same thing as he passed out the next 4 cars in front of me, either this or his was underwear itching him.

For my effort of looking in my review mirror and pulling over, I would like a more imaginative response like a big wave of better still a big smiley face to light up on his back. Yes a big smiley face is what I need for my effort. They would also get a better response from other drivers.

So lookout for a smiley face.

Earphones at Rock Concerts for people with poor hearing

I heard this on the radio this morning. What a great idea. No more noise, instead you can get to hear the band you see in front of you. At the beginning its only for people with poor hearing (plus free parking :-?) but perhaps in future it could be available to everybody. This will start at Rock Werchter (near Tremelo) this year so hope it's a good success.

God provided use with 3 and more user manuals, so now we can choose which path to follow and have little respect for other paths. We also have the opportunity to easily misinterpret our holy books, use it in all sorts of arguments, justify our wars and even make up new rules.

Perhaps one user guide to get to heaven might have been a better idea?
